There’s no denying since her debut on the Main Roster back in 2016, Alexa Bliss has become a dominant force. From beating Becky Lynch for the SmackDown Woman’s Championship at TLC in a Tables match to being in her first WrestleMania last year, Alexa Bliss has done a hell of a lot.
Her gimmick back down in NXT was once a fairy, I’m assuming as a knock on her height, but then they decided to turn her heel and have her team with Buddy Murphy and Wesley Blake. She was their manager and became quite the heel. Bliss had a feud with Bayley for the NXT Woman’s Championship in which she was unsuccessful in capturing. Then, Bliss and Blake abandoned Murphy thus ending the trio.
Bliss had a few more matches on NXT before being drafted to SmackDown on July 19th 2016. Bliss’ first main roster win was against Becky Lynch, and after winning at SummerSlam she was entered into a six-pack elimination match to be the inaugural SmackDown Womens Champion. Becky Lynch won this, and then they entered a feud. A title match between the pair was scheduled for No Mercy but due to Lynch having a legitimate injury, the match was postponed. The match was rescheduled but Bliss lost, it wasn’t until TLC in December that Bliss was finally successful in becoming Champion.
Bliss retained the SmackDown Woman’s Championship in a steel cage match with the help of returning Mickie James as La Luchadora. Naomi defeated Alexa Bliss for the SmackDown Womens Championship, but due to injury, Naomi had to relinquish the Championship, and Bliss beat Becky Lynch for it to become 2x SmackDown Womens Champion. A six-pack elimination Championship match was set for WrestleMania to determine who would be Champion. Naomi would win once more, and after Naomi successfully retained the SmackDown after WrestleMania, Bliss then went to RAW.
It didn’t take long for Bliss to become Champion once again. She defeated Bayley at Payback at the end of April, becoming the first woman to hold the RAW and SmackDown Championships. Then their feud got weird and cringey worthy. Bliss did one of the worst segments ever – A This Is Your Life about Bayley. It’s totally puzzling as to why WWE thought this was good. Then, there was the awful Kendo Stick On A Pole match at Extreme Rules.
Alexa Bliss then entered a feud with Sasha Banks, after a successful title retain at Great Balls of Fire, she lost it to Banks at SummerSlam only to win it back again eight days later. Bliss has a successful title defence at No Mercy, the following night she was confronted by Mickie James after the comments Bliss made against James. Mickie James wanted the title, Bliss successfully defended the Championship at TLC. December 7th, Alexa Bliss and Sasha Banks made history by having a title match in Abu Dhabi, Bliss was once again retained.
Alexa Bliss’ career in WWE may be short but it’s certainly has been amazing so far. With every match, with every passing month, Bliss continues to grow and show why WWE is in the era of Bliss.
