Money In The Bank Review

missbeckiechatteri

Well, WWE like to shake things up, and this PPV was more shaken up than, okay I don’t know what but you get the point. So let’s review!!

The Hype Bros defeat The Colons

This was to be expected, Ryder was back, The Hype Bros were hype and it was a great match from start to finish. Unsurprisingly, they also gave the big win to Ryder with a Rough Ryder and the pin.

Carmella is Miss Money In The Bank

Controversial City! The one most wtf, omg moments of the night (Styles got the big one, but more on that later). Yes Carmella is Miss Money In The Bank, but with a little help from shenanigans in the shape of James Ellsworth, he climbed the ladder and got the case for her dropping it below. Now, lots of people are severely pissed off with this, this was history making and everyone thought WWE shit all over that, but come on!! It has given her some fantastic heel heat, no women is happy with this, both Daniel Bryan and Shane O’Mac are angry but it’s hers now and there’s (hopefully) nothing anyone can do about it. The match was phenomenal and there was some fantastic moments, including an unexpected (albeit brief) Nattie/Becky partnership against Tamina. Plus, that moonsault though, you know what I mean.

The Usos retain.

Again, obvious result, they’ve barely held the titles so they need longer with them. There was some truly mind blowing wrestling from both sides, especially when Big E hit that suplex. Don’t like how The Usos won by count out though, to me it always seems lazy when that happens.

Naomi retains.

This match had very little excitement for me. I mean, Lana (to my mind) wasn’t that bad, but she lacked a certain oomph, that je ne sais quoi to actually make her stick out. I’m sure over time she will get better, but she certainly wasn’t PPV ready. The Carmella cash in tease was highly disappointing, I would loved for her to of cashed in and amp up some more heel heat, but you can’t have it all.

Next is a MITB special of Fashion Files dubbed Fashion Vice which looked as 80’s as GTA Vice City, which had a little nod to Paul Heyman back when he was Paul E Dangerously. A mystery team challenge Breezango to a match later on.

Then Maria Kanellis and Mike Bennett debuted but he’s also Mike Kanellis, hey it’s the 21st century, if he wants her surname then that’s cool. Although it’s more likely that WWE can call him what they want know they own him (in a non creepy soul taking way). Anyway Maria announces that she is back and she has been looking for the perfect partner for seven years, which Mike says is him, which is cute, if not a little sickening. Maria says they’re here to educate everyone on SmackDown on the power of love, and then their uber cheesy music hits and they dance off together.

Jinder retains.

WWE were really being Captain Obvious with their results tonight and even more so with the WWE Legends front row, with Randy’s Father present which practically screamed “something is going to happen here.” Orton tries an RKO early on, but Jinder is having non of it, and he regroups with his partners The Singh Brothers. There’s a lot of good back and forth between each man, as they both wrestle their metaphorical socks off. The Legends are shown a few times and by now you know something will happen, it’s just a matter of when. Orton nails the RKO and one of those sneaky Singh Brothers pops Jinder’s foot on the rope. Fans boo, Orton alerts the ref, ref orders Singh Brothers backstage. The Singh Brothers stop and decide it’s time The Legends got it, well one Legend in particular – Randy’s Dad Cowboy Bob Orton. Understandably, Randy gets pissed and rips into The Singh Brothers, and gives a beautiful RKO to both of them. Orton then pops into the ring, and Jinder hits the Khallas for the win

Breezango defeated The Ascension

So The Ascension were announced as the guys who attacked Breezy, and honestly everyone wishes it was American Alpha as they’ve been MIA for a while now. This match was okay, short and not much else to say other than, yay Breezango won!

Baron Corbin is Mr Money In The Bank

This was easily the match of the evening from Corbin attacking Nakamura before he could even enter the ring, there was not a dull moment throughout. Sami was quite brutal, which makes me wonder what he’d be like heel, and who didn’t gasp when he slammed Owens onto the apron? The match was ferocious with all six men really going at each other and then the biggest oh my god moment happened. Styles was up there holding onto the chain of the briefcase, and Ziggler pushes away the ladder, with Styles still holding onto the chain of the briefcase. He dangles there and then falls to the mat in a true holy shit moment. Nakamura’s music plays and he comes out to a giant pop where nobody can stop singing his theme. Once out there, he decides everyone needs a Kinshasha. He moves the ladder under the briefcase but is slow to climb it. Looking up, he sees Styles looking back at him. It’s at this moment, the entire WWE Universe just loses their shit and just they just mark out. They have some amazing back and forth and the crowd rightly explodes “this is awesome!” they both climbed the ladder either side, and trade some blows. They both go to grab the case, and then Corbin runs in, pushes the ladder sending them both into the ropes. Corbin then repositions the ladder and without interruption climbs to victory.
