After Wrestle Kingdom 11, it was obvious this rematch would be fantastic, but nobody knew it was going to be as awe inspiring as it was. Bigger than Batman vs Superman, in a sixty minute timed match, these two were going to create something extraordinary.
As soon as Omega came out flanked by The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson), the excitement in the air was palpable, then out came Okada, and it wasn’t long before the main event was kicking off. The two men were determined to put on a hell of a show, and as soon as Okada injured his knee, Omega targeted the knee as often as possible, including an “oh my god” moment when Omega lifted Okada up and threw him bad knee first into an announce table. Okada gave as good as he got, including a beautifully brutal Shotgun Kick, that knocked Omega back into the barrier. Omega tried to hit the One Winged Angel early on, and Okada tried to hit his Rainmaker, but neither man was letting the other off easily. A table was set up by Okada on the outside, with the intention of putting Omega straight through it, but with Omega gaining the upper hand, this was not to be. Back and forth the men went, a v-trigger, a rolling German suplex by Omega and finally Okada hit the Rainmaker which Omega kicked out of. More back and forth, and then Okada have hit Omega with a dropkick from the top rope. that knocked him onto the floor. Omega crawled to the table, Okada set up a big splash, sending Omega straight through the table.
Okada remained the dominant one, and then the rest of Bullet Club come out. Cody Rhodes repeatedly tried to throw a towel in, and The Young Bucks, and the rest of Bullet Club did their utmost best to make this not happen. Whilst all this is occurring, Omega had enough time to recover and hit two kneed strikes and a reverse Hurricanrana. Omega finally hit his One Winged Angel, and it looked like it would work, until just before the final count is called, Okada’s foot the bottom rope. Omega then went in for a Snap Dragon Supelex but walked into a brutal Dropkick, he then tried for another One Winged Angel which Okada countered with a Tombstone.
Okada went for another Rainmaker, but Omega slumped from exhaustion causing Okada to miss. The two then try for Tombstone’s, and then Omega hit three kicks to the face of Okada, Omega tried to lift him up, but Okada nailed a dropkick. Okada then finally hit a Twisting Tombstone, but is far to exhausted to execute a pin on Omega. Two minutes left and both men were trying desperately to win, Omega got a Snap Dragon Suplex, and Okada nailed a dropkick and one final Rainmaker. Twenty seconds remain, using what little strength he has, Okada dragged himself towards a fallen Omega but failed to get there on time.
Whilst the match ended in a draw, the exhilaration of the match was insane. Both men put everything they had into this match, it could not be classed as a failure. If there is ever going to be a Okada vs Omega III, then no doubt it will be just as, if not more flawless. There is such a fight forever feeling between these two, and I cannot wait for the next chapter.
