Do It With Flair

missbeckiechatteri

When your Dad is Ric Flair, there is a lot to live up to, and Charlotte does it brilliantly. She is a fantastic 2nd generation wrestler, and she has only just begun to put the name Charlotte Flair on the wrestling world.

Charlotte signed to NXT in 2012, where she was trained by Sara Del Rey, Charlotte made her TV NXT debut in 2013 where she defeated Bayley. For a while, Charlotte tagged with Bayley before The BFF’s (Sasha Banks and Summer Rae) tried to get Bayley to break from Charlotte and join them. Charlotte instead turned on Bayley and joined The BFF’s.

After spending two months off due to an injury, she came back to accompany Summer and Sasha out for their matches. Charlotte then challenged Paige to a NXT Womens Championship match during an interview. Summer Rae went back to the main roster, and Charlotte and Sasha continued to feud with Bayley who teamed up with Natalya. After WrestleMania 30, when Paige made her main roster debut, Charlotte took part in a tournament to win the vacant NXT Womens Championship, which she won after beating Natalya in the final.

Summer Rae returned to NXT to re-help The BFF’s by distracting Bayley allowing Charlotte to pin her. The BFF’s didn’t last much longer together, after the defeated Bayley and Becky Lynch, Charlotte abandoned Sasha and The BFF’s broke up in a backstage segment. Charlotte had successful title defences against Summer Rae and Bayley. Charlotte then teamed with Bayley (as a face) to go against Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks, after more title defences, Charlotte lost the NXT Womens Championship to Sasha Banks in a Fatal Four Way with Becky Lynch and Bayley.

In 2015, Charlotte was bought up to the main roster as part of the Womens Revolution on RAW. Along with Becky Lynch, she was teamed with Paige as PCB whilst Sasha Banks (who was also called up) teamed with Tamina Snuka and Naomi. Charlotte won her first PPV match against Brie Bella and Sasha Banks in a Triple Threat Match. After SummerSlam, Charlotte’s eyes turned towards the Divas Champion Nikki Bella and the Championship. After a few failed attempts, including a match where Nikki Bella became the longest reigning Divas Championship, Charlotte finally grabbed the Divas Championship at Night of Champions.

The night after Charlotte’s Championship win, Paige turned on her thus splitting PCB, Charlotte still teamed with Becky Lynch although their partnership started to show strain when Charlotte began to turn Heel. After Charlotte defeated Becky Lynch in early 2016, she attacked her ending their partnership. Charlotte successfully defended her Championship against Becky twice with help from her Father including during Royal Rumble. Charlotte also retained against Natalya at Roadblock.

There was a match set between Sasha and Becky to determine the number one contender for the Divas Championship, however Charlotte attacked both and the match was no contest. A Triple Threat was set for WrestleMania 32 between the three. Before WrestleMania, the Divas Championship was retired, and it was announced that the three would be going after the brand new RAW Womens Championship. After the match of the evening, Charlotte won and was crowned the first ever RAW Womens Champion.

After WrestleMania, Charlotte entered a feud with Natalya but no matter how hard she tried, Natalya could not defeat Charlotte. Charlotte was now teaming with Dana Brooke, who was dubbed Charlotte’s protégé. During the Brand Split, Natalya was drafted to SmackDown away from Charlotte. The first match on RAW after the Brand Split, Charlotte lost the RAW Womens Championship to Sasha Banks after Sasha claimed Dana injured her in a move reminiscent to Sasha’s idol Eddie Guerrero. At SummerSlam, Charlotte won the RAW Womens Championship thus beginning a long and brutal feud.

Over the months, the RAW Womens Championship changed hands between the two as both tried their hardest to prove they were better than the other. During this time, Charlotte and Sasha made history by main eventing Hell In A Cell inside the Cell, which Charlotte won, a Falls Count Anywhere where Sasha wrenched Charlotte through the stair banister with the Banks Statement to win and Charlotte defeated Sasha once more in an Iron Man Match where after the time limit, extra time had to be added as they drew. Charlotte came out on top one final time.

At Royal Rumble in 2017, Charlotte retained the Championship against Bayley, however Bayley defeated her during a match during RAW. Charlotte failed to win the Championship back at Fastlane, which marked Charlotte’s first PPV loss since her main roster debut back in 2015. Charlotte failed to win the Championship once more at WrestleMania 33, and after a loss to Nia Jax after WrestleMania, Charlotte transferred to SmackDown.

Once Charlotte was on SmackDown, Charlotte defeated Naomi in a non title defence, and then had a title shot against Naomi but lost due to interference from Natalya, Carmella and Tamina. Charlotte turned Face, and teamed up with Becky Lynch and Naomi to take in Carmella, Natalya and Tamina. Charlotte took part in a match so decide the next number one contender against Naomi, but due to the brutality of the match, SmackDown Commissioner (Daniel Bryan) declared there would be the first ever Womens Money In The Bank. However Charlotte didn’t win, Carmella won due to James Ellsworth climbing the ladder and dropping it down to her.

Charlotte then took part in a Fatal Five-way at Battleground to determine the number one contender, but was pinned by Natalya. After this, Charlotte took time off to offer family support to her Dad after he was in hospital due his failing health. When Ric Flair began to get better, Charlotte returned to SmackDown after almost two months off, she then won a Fatal Four-way to become the number one contender for the SmackDown Womens Championship. Charlotte lost at Hell In Cell after winning by disqualification thus not winning, but then she successfully defeated Natalya at her home town of Charlotte, North Carolina. This made Charlotte the first woman to hold any Championship available to women – NXT, Divas, RAW and finally SmackDown.

Charlotte replaced Natalya for the match against Alexa Bliss at Survivor Series in which she won, Charlotte also had an amazing match inside a Steel Cage at Starrcade against Natalya, it was another chapter of Flair vs Hart. Charlotte successfully defended the SmackDown Womens Championship against Natalya in a Lumberjill match at Clash of Champions. Charlotte participated in the first ever female Royal Rumble match in 2018, she will be facing Ruby Riott at Fastlane, hopefully she will retain.

Charlotte has already made quite a name for herself, and she’s only going to get bigger. If she retains against Ruby Riott, she wants to fight Asuka at WrestleMania 34 and end her undefeated streak. Charlotte has only just got started, and her career will undoubtedly end in a Hall of Fame Induction.
