Battleground Review

missbeckiechatteri

Well Battleground was something. There was some good parts, some what the fuck parts and The Great Khali returned. So let’s break it all down:

Aidan English defeated Tye Dillinger

Well Tye didn’t come through as a perfect 10. There was some decent back and forth between both men and a few near falls before English nailed the Directors Cut for the finish. All in all the right man won.

The New Day defeated The Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship

I was not expecting this! Don’t get me wrong, I love The New Day. They are a good rage team but do they really need tag belts again so soon? I really hope after this feud, The Usos don’t fade into the background, and I also hope Breezango get to face The New Day for Tag Team gold.

Shinsuke Nakamura won by DQ

Baron Corbin could not resist that low blow. It was almost like it was calling to him. I thoroughly enjoyed this match, both men gave it their all. It would have been nice to have a clean win, but Corbin coming back and putting Nakamura in that End Of Dayswas glorious.

Natalya is the number one contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship

This match could have had a lot more. I am very happy that Natalya won, but it didn’t have the ferocity of the Money In The Bank match. Tamina is well and truly in the bodyguard roll, and obviously without her there, Lana stood no chance, so their quick elimination was necessary. Becky should have been in a bit longer, but I will always love Charlotte vs Natalya. The right woman won, and it’s high time Natalya actually won another championship belt.

Kevin Owens defeated AJ Styles for the United States Championship

Ugh. I love Owens, but did the belt really need to go back to him again so soon? He came across as very dominant through the whole match with the headlocks and then casually throwing Styles into the ref. Knocking Styles onto the apron like that was also pretty brutal. There’s going to be another rematch cause Styles’ shoulder was up, but as he was on the other side the referee didn’t notice it.

John Cena defeated Rusev in the flag match

Nobody was unsurprised Cena won. It was obvious. WWE weren’t going to have America lose, that would just be daft! The match was okay, a bit too long, but both men showcased what they could do. Rusev could benefit from a new character direction because hating America is just old, and WWE will never put that over. They bleed red, white and blue.

Fashion Files is up next, and everyone expected to find out who is attacking the lovable Breezango. But in true WWE fashion, we still don’t know. Who knows where this is taking us.

Sami Zayn defeated Mike Kanellis

Well Sami does not feel the power of love! This was a slow match. Zayn showed that he is truly capable of putting on a fantastic display of wrestling. It was a bit silly that Maria put herself in the ring once again to stop Sami attacking her hubby but WWE like to do daft things like that. Jinder Mahal retained the WWE Championship

Once more due to shenanigans, Mahal won. The match was okay, I guess. It got a bit brutal, but both of the Singh Brothers entering themselves into the Punjabi Prison, it was obvious this win wasn’t going to be clean. Orton tried his best to get the brothers away, even knocking Samir about 15ft to the announce table below. On the other side of the structure, after more offense with Jinder, he tried again to climb. Sunil this time tried to stop him, but Orton made quick work of him. Then The Great Khali turned up. Yup, the Punjabi Prince himself came to the aid of Jinder. Shaking the Punjabi Prison like a rag doll, Orton topples over the top and falls down, where Khali then decides to hold him in a chokehold after climbing the structure. Grinning like a Cheshire cat, Jinder slowly climbs the Punjabi Prison to victory. Once outside, there’s a nice little moment where Khali gets to hold the championship for a few moments before it’s once again in Jinder’s hands.
