I was overjoyed when Papa Buck agreed to be interviewed for my blog. He’s an absolutely lovely man, and it truly was a delight to talk to him, without further ado, here’s the interview:
Beckie: First question, how do you feel about being booked for Starrcast?
Papa Buck: Nervous, excited, jazzed haven’t slept in months.
B: I can imagine, it’s going to be pretty huge. Any idea what you’ve got planned?
PB: Gonna bring the music of BTE to life best way to explain it. All the music you hear on the series will be done live on stage with a 5 piece band, these songs have never been performed on stage ever before.
B: Wow that sounds absolutely amazing! I’m sure the fans will love it. What’s the inspiration for your songs?
PB: Warriors cry was inspired by my son Malachi when he got hit by a car at 12 years old and was dragged on his bike broke his right fibula and tibia! He was a wrestler with Matt and Nick and was out for a year but came back and never looked back and when he would wrestle he would make a warrior cry that’s what inspired this song.
Chasing My Dream was inspired by dropping off the boys to the airport and watching them kiss their wives and children goodbye.
Super Kick Party of course was inspired by watching the boys just having time of their lives Super Kicking and they needed a theme song for BTE.
Cease-and-desist was inspired by the cease-and-desist lawsuit with WWE.
B: Some fantastic inspiration there, your boys work so hard. How does it feel seeing them go from boys in the backyard practising to wrestling megastars?
PB: Feels magical to watch this happen. I see the little guys coming out of the backyard then fast forward I see them coming out to 50,000 screaming fans in Japan. I always knew they made magic from day one though, it’s bittersweet though because they’re always on the road never get to be with us in the family. So hard life you got to have the passion inside of you to be a light to the dark arenas in the world.
B: That’s absolutely beautiful. You’re becoming fairly well known too, how does that feel with people wanting to meet you?
PB: It’s exciting to know that people are reaching out to me, also with my music and my message and positivity to the world I just want to illuminate. If I could just reach one person and change that one person’s life I’ve done my job. I’ve always wanted to be a Rockstar so I’m just excited about the way things are going the way things are transpiring! I appreciate the boys seeing that opportunity and given it to me and believing in me along with my beautiful wife Joyce.
B: Honestly, it’s absolutely amazing what you’re doing too. To me you’re more than just the Father of The Young Bucks, you’re clearly a passionate man with a huge heart.
PB: Been through a lot of pain so through that pain passion is birthed! I’m a very emotional guy! I just try to see the positive in life my wife taught me that! She sees the good in everything around me I’m learned a lot from her and I think that’s when the boys get it to.
B: The Massie family are such a loving bunch people and you can clearly see it. One final question, what’s your favourite song that you’ve created?
PB: I would say Warriors Cry is my favorite song that created as far as secular song goes it’s really been an inspiration to me and kind of my go to song but there’s one song specifically wrote that’s a Christian song is called I will follow you! I wrote that song when I was going through a lot of pain in my life and the song inspired me to follow whatever and planned God has for me just to give it all to him and stop stressing out.
